OMRON’s EcoVadis Platinum rating, the highest distinction, puts the company within the top 1% of all the businesses assessed for sustainability performance.
OMRON has been awarded the Platinum rating following a sustainability assessment by EcoVadis. A score earning a Platinum rating, which is the highest distinction, puts the company within the top 1% of all the businesses assessed for sustainability performance. OMRON is receiving this international recognition for the second time after fiscal 2020.
This assessment is conducted by EcoVadis, an independent and trusted provider of a shared sustainability platform, which assesses more than 100,000 organizations and businesses, using its unique CSR rating methodology that covers 175 countries around the world and 200 categories of business, based on several thousands of external sources (including NGOs, trade unions, international bodies, local governments, and auditing organizations). The CSR activities of a company are comprehensively assessed in four areas: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.
OMRON saw its score improve significantly in Ethics while maintaining high scores in Environment and Sustainable Procurement, which led to the rating earned this time. In Environment, OMRON was included within the top 1% of businesses in the same trade in recognition of setting environmental targets in its Medium-term Management Plan “SF 1st Stage,“ which are linked to material sustainability issues laid out in its long-term vision, Shaping the Future 2030 (SF2030) that was kicked off in April 2022, and the certification by an international organization, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi*). In Sustainable Procurement, OMRON was recognized for its initiative to promote diversity within the supply chain, resulting in a score in te top 2% of businesses in the same industry. In Ethics, OMRON earned a higher score for reporting ethics-related key performance indicators (KPIs), including those of employee training.
Under SF2030, OMRON aims to maximize its corporate value by creating social value and economic value through its business. OMRON will remain committed to solving social issues in all four themes to meet the expectations of customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders, in an effort to sustain the development of society and the business growth of the company.
*SBTi (Science Based Targets Initiative): An international initiative that recommends setting medium- and long-term greenhouse gas reduction targets based on scientific evidence.
